The Youngstown Business Incubator is coming off the single busiest month in its history.
 
Over the past thirty days, 166 individuals visited our campus for the very first time. 
 
They came to us from places like Tokyo, San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, and Bologna, Italy. 
 
They were a senior manager from the Toyota Motor Company, a professor from the University of California/Santa Barbara, a delegation of young professionals from Israel, an IT manager from Fast Company magazine, and two entrepreneurs from Chandler, Arizona, who are preparing to move their business to our campus in Youngstown, Ohio.
 
Why would people come from all over the world to visit with us?

So here's a cool story to finish a very exciting year for us at YBI.

Channel One, based in New York City and a CBS Partner Company, is the leading educational news content provider nationwide for teens. Promethean, headquarted in London, England, is the world's largest provider of smart board technology to education. Together, the two companies are globally deploying a new educational tool for schools called Channel One News Interactiv.

And where is the fully staffed Network Operations Center managing the deployment? On the YBI campus in Youngstown, Ohio.

And who wrote the enabling software for Channel One New Interactiv? YBI Portfolio Company Perkins Communications in Youngstown, Ohio.

We'd like to send a big "shout out" to a YBI Portfolio Company, The Learning Egg, on the successful national launch of their exciting new product for educational markets.

Called the Lightning Grader, this new software application allows educators to accurately grade up to 30 pages of paper-based tests per minute by means as easy as simply feeding the test papers into the school's photocopying machine.  The technology also compiles all aggregate testing data to generate highly robust, contemporary and historic reports on student, class, and school performance.

Apparently investors like the idea too, with the firm announcing shortly the close of their first outside institutional investment.
